Week 4 Summaries
Nordiques defeat Kings 10-7
The Kings took on a short Nords team but you really wouldn’t be able to tell that with the way this game was played. The Nords struck fast and hard to start the game, with a pair of goals from Shoaib Khan. They took a commanding 4-0 lead before the Kings pushed back with goals from Dulku and Kadva. The Nord skep the slim lead as the Kings chipped away, 5-4 in the first. The second period saw hat tricks completed for Shoaib Rangrez and Khan, giving them the much needed buffer to keep the Kinds at bay. Without Anant Kaushal to help close the gap, the Kings let this one slip away. Nords win 10-7.
Jets defeat Hawks 11-4
The Hawks took on the Jets in a game that really put the standings into perspective. The Jets came out strong with goals from Safi Ahmed and Reihan Kazi. The Hawks got on board with a goal from Farooq Khan, but the Jets were playing a near perfect game that night. Leading 4-2 going in the half, they started the second with a 3-0 run thanks to a two goal effort from Arif Hanslod. The Hawks tried desperately to claw back but the Jets were firing on all cylinders. The presence of Baba Khan was missed on the Hawks side, as the Jets won this quite easily, 11-4. Hawks are now 0-4 on the season.
Week 4 Previews
Kings Vs Nordiques @ 9:15 pm
The Kings will take on the Nords this week in a game that is going to pit the two heavyweights against each other. One has to lose while the other remains undefeated. Hard to tell who will take it here as both teams have had to overcome the same competition in the last few weeks. All we know is the winner here will gain a psychological advantage that will likely carry on well into the season.
Hawks Vs Jets @ 10:15 pm
The 0-3 Hawks will be looking for their first win this season against the 1-1 Jets. The Hawks know they have potential, at least on paper but need to make a concerted effort to ensure everyone is on board. This should come down to the goal tenders who will be pivotal in either team’s success.
Week 3 Summaries
Nordiques defeat Hawks 14-4
Talk about a trending issue with the Hawks as they faced yet another opponent short-benched. The Hawks took on the Nords this week in a matchup that I am sure you can fairly easily predict. The Nords came out strong with four straight goals, including a pair from Shoaib Khan. The Hawks responded decently in the first with a trio of goals to keep the score somewhat close, as the Nords finished out the period leading 6-3. The second half saw an absolute domination by the Nords against a gassed out Hawks team. Scoring came in from all angles and players to effectively rout the Hawks 14-4 on the night. Something’s gotta change soon if the Hawks wish to be taken seriously this season.
Kings defeat Bruins 10-7
The Bruins took on the Kings in a much more exciting game, as both came ready for a shooting gallery. The Kings opened up strong with 5 goals in the first, including a first period hat trick from Gopi Johal. The lone goal for the Bruins came in from Syed Ahmed in the dying seconds of the first. The second half saw a more organized Bruins team that kicked off with a pair of goals. Johal added another to the Kings’ tally to widen the gap 6-3. Mohit Sharma of the Bruins wasn’t having it and scored back-to-back to bring the game within one with just 9 minutes left on the clock. Unfortunately for them, Johal was on fire and netted his second period hat trick to boost the Kings’ margin yet again. Two late game goals from the Bruins wouldn’t cut it as the Kings hold on for the 10-7 win.
