Week 1 Summaries
Hawks defeat Nordiques 12-11
The Hawks and Nords kicked off the very first game of the season and boy oh boy what a game it was! The Nords scored the first goal of the season via GM Divesh Sharma. The Hawks equalized a minute later with a goal from Jason Gogna. The Nords kept up a strong offense led by Sharma, who kept the team in the game.
The Hawks were attacking from all angles, with many a goal from Hassan Tahajudin. Abdul Manjra and Sufyan Kazi had pretty much won this for the Hawks with back to back goals, leading 12-10. With just two minutes in play, Sharma would be the hero yet again, bringing the game back to 1. Nordiques tried to push towards the end, but the Hawks would play shutdown D and were able to squeeze out the win. What a game!
Jets defeat Bruins 7-6 SO
The Jets and Bruins followed up in an equally exciting game. The Jets started strong with a pair from Shoaib Khan and Sufyaan Shaikh, before Arif Billa Hanslod would cut the lead to one. The second period saw much more action as both teams traded goals back and forth. The Bruins seemed to have the upper hand at one point scoring three straight, only to later be countered by a pair from the Jets’ Khan and Rangrez. With second winding down on the clock, Zaheer Kazi would tie it for the Bruins with 10.8 seconds left! Kazi was able to secure a point for the Bruins while the Jets made good use of dangling skills to win it in SO, 7-6.

FALL 2018 TEAM PREVIEWS
With the first overall pick, GM Ricky Saili of the Jets wasted no time in drafting Shoaib Khan. Khan brings with him a priceless array of experience. Ridwaan Khanji looks like the man between the pipes, supported by a young team featuring Abdullah Patel, Anish Kara, and Abraar Gangat. Expect this team to be one of the most consistent in terms of performance.
The Hawks' GM Mohammed Kazi took on Abdul Manjra as his first overall pick. Abbas Shaikh will be netminding this team, while veterans like Zahid Panchbhaya, Jason Gogna, and Sadiq Patel will be providing consistent support. Expect this team to push hard and fast, as Kazi is historically known for making his squad run.
The Bruins' GM Suhaib Shaikh drafted along loyalty lines and snatched up goalie Mohammed AK Patel as his first pick. The Bruins team will yet again be the underdog, as the team has been drafted along lines of personal connections. Expect the Bruin gang to be the most united this season, embodying the true meaning of the word "team".
The Nords led by GM Divesh Sharma picked up Pavan Dulai first overall, with Kaleem Mirza taking care of netminding duties. The Nords feature a mix of old and new, and may be the team that stuns us all this season. Expect strong leadership from the likes of Syed Ahmed and Sharma, translating into some good hockey.

FALL 2018 GM PREVIEWS
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Fall 2018 season of the MMGL! There is much to do and even more to see, so let’s get to it. This season’s draft will be held on Thursday September 6th and will prove to be one of the most difficult for GMs. Ricky Saili, Mohammed Kazi, Suhaib Shaikh, and Divesh Sharma will all be playing mental gymnastics in an attempt to draft their championship team.
The Jets will be led by none other than the physical embodiment of the Jets name, Ricky Saili. This man is no stranger to the MMGL, nor is he unfamiliar with winning championships. All eyes will be on Saili as he brings forth the most experience to the table. Expect a team that will be focused more on chemistry than anything else.
The Hawks will be led by Mohammed Kazi, who has seen considerable success in the past. This season will force him to step up and make an attempt to outshine his co-GMs. Kazi has historically sided with drafting run and gun teams, with a heavy emphasis on scoring as much as possible. Let’s see if history repeats itself this season.
The Bruins will be led by none other than Suhaib Shaikh, who has brought notoriety and flair to the team name. Shaikh has all the characteristics of a great leader and has been known to hold down the defensive end of his squad. Sources tell us Shaikh will be looking to build around a strong goaltender.
The Nordiques will be led by Divesh Sharma, who has spent considerable time under other GMs. This will be the chance he gets to shine and prove to the league he means business. This is definitely the team you want to keep an eye out for, as there is no telling what will happen!
