Week 10 Summaries

Hawks defeat Bruins 13-5
 

The Hawks and Bruins faced off this week in a game that certainly didn't have any electrifying playoff vibe to it. Seeing as how both teams will be facing off again, this game was a free for all in terms of goals. The Hawks started the game with 8 straight goals to get the early win. The Bruins did offer some pushback with 5 goals in the second, thanks to a Yahya Ingar effort, but all for naught. Hawks win this one 14-5. Hawks finish fourth with a 6-4 record, and the Bruins one spot below with a 3-7 record on the season.

 

Jets defeat Sharks 8-6 
 

The Jets played hard next game, as this game was an important one in the overall standings. Both teams were tied at 3 at the half, with the Jets Pavan Dulai leading the charge. Shahrukh Shah netted a pair to equalize, before the Jets slowly built up a 2 goal lead in the second to claim the win. Jets finish overall second in the league with a 7-2 record, while the Sharks will be looking for a Cinderella story, finishing last at 1-9.

 

Falcons defeat Nordiques 12-5 
 

The Falcons and Nords game did not go the way most had expected. The Falcons were absolutely ruthless from the get go, with Abdul Manjra netting a first period hat trick to take a defining 7-3 first period lead. The second period saaw another barrage of Falcon goals, leaving the Nords with the harsh truth they will drop to third in standings. Falcons will be taking home the Presidents Trophy, while the Nords will be looking to take on the Sharks.

 

Week 10 Previews

Bruins Vs Hawks @ 8:45pm
 

The Hawks and Bruins will battle it out in what could be a potential playoff match up. Knowing this, everything is on the line for both teams. The Hawks look good on paper, but have far too often failed to close out games. The Bruins on the other hand, will simply be looking to play as a complete team for once.

 

Jets Vs Sharks @ 9:45pm
 

The Jets and Sharks could yet be another potential playoff match up, and the Sharks will be looking to exploit any weakness they can find. The Sharks have had a less than optimal season, but a full roster could change anything, especially when it comes down to just one game.

 

Nordiques Vs Falcons @ 10:45pm
 

And finally, the Nords and Falcons will battle it out for first place. There is a lot of motivation behind getting a bye, and you can bet both teams will be fighting till the last second to get the win.

Week 9 Summaries

Falcons defeat Sharks 8-5
 

The Sharks and Falcons faced off this week, with a riveting start. The Falcons netted a double thanks to Divesh Sharma and Shahid Butt, before the Sharks came out swinging with four first period goals, including a pair from Rahman Rana. Leading 4-3 into the half, the Sharks seemed to have gotten back into the groove of things. The second period could not be more different, as the Falcons bombarded netminder Mohamed Bashir with goal after goal. Muzammil Khan would net a pair in the 8-5 rout of the Sharks. This is definitely a team you should be on the lookout for during the playoffs.

 

Nordiques defeat Hawks 6-5 
 

The second game of the night saw the Nords fight tooth and nail against the Hawks. A pair of goals from Abraar Gangat would kick things off, compounded with a third later on for a strong 5-2 Nords first half. The second period was all Hawks as they regrouped with goals from Zaheer Kazi, Suhaib Shaikh, and Arif Hanslod. Their efforts, however, fell short and the Nords edged this one 6-5 to remain atop the league. Do not let the numbers fool you, either team will be a nuisance to play against in the playoffs.
 

Jets defeat Bruins 9-5

 

And finally, the Jets took on the Bruins who were severely undermanned. Despite this, they put on a strong first period, leading 4-3, thanks to Anish Kara and subs. The Jets, pushed back in the second with six straight goals, featuring a Jason Gogna hattrick and Ricky Saili pair to close this game out early. Jets win 9-5 and will be looking to make a strong final statement next week prior to playoff rush.

Week 9 Previews

Falcons Vs Sharks @ 8:45pm
 

The Sharks will take on the Falcons this week, with both teams itching for a win. Can the Sharks overcome the offensive persistance of the Falcons? With just two games left to play, there is so much on the line for the Falcons. They will need to get on every lucky bounce if they hope to push through with a bye.

 

Hawks Vs Nordiques @ 9:45pm
 

The first place Nords will be looking to stay at the top, as they take on the Hawks. The Hawks have been on fire as of late, and are proving to be a nuisance for established teams. Can Captain Khan and company figure out a way to keep the Hawks' advances at bay?

Jets Vs Bruins @ 10:45pm

 

The Bruins will take on the Jets in a game that could go either way. The Bruins are finally a team with their goalie in tact, and can prove to be a huge upset in the coming weeks. The Jets will need to gather all firepower and make no mistake in underestimating the Bruins

Week 8 Summaries

 

 

Bruins defeat Falcons 8-7
 

The Falcons took on the Bruins in our closest game of the night. The Bruins finally saw the return of netminder Khizer Shahzad. The Bruins struck first with a goal from Shahzad Rana, before Fahad Panchbhaya would tie things up. Bruins led 4-3 after one on distributed scoring. The second period saw Divesh Sharma net his third goal of the night to tie things even 4-4. Both teams traded goals back and forth, working so hard for a lucky break. Anish Kara would net a pair late to give the Bruins the 8-6 lead. A last minute goal by Karan Bagga would not be enough for a comeback, giving the Bruins the 8-7 win.

 

Hawks defeat Jets 9-6 
 

The Hawks took on the Jets in an entertaining display of good clean hockey. Arif Hanslod got the Hawks up on the board quick, before Yusuf Ingar would equalize. Both teams traded goals back and forth in the first, with the Jets taking the 4-3 lead on a late Jason Gogna goal. The second period saw a stronger Hawks team, with Arif Hanslod netting a hat trick for a total of 5 goals on the night. The Hawks ran away with this one thanks to his effort, 9-6. 

 

Week 7 Summaries

Bruins defeat Sharks 7-6

The Bruins took on the Sharks, who had Abbas Shaikh manning the pipes for them this evening. The Sharks managed to get the one goal lead 4-3 after the first period, but this game was far from over. Both teams battled hard to stay in, trading goals back and forth. Huzzy Panchbhaya would net a hat trick, and get some help from sub Abraar Gangat to push the Bruins over the edge for the 7-6 win.

 

Nordiques defeat Jets 8-6

The Jets and Nords put on a hell of a show in the battle of Red and White. The Nords struck first with a pair from Abraar Gangat, who was on fire this game. The Jets responded coolly with goals from Yusuf Ingar and Pavan Dulai to take the first period 6-5 lead. The second period was an add-on of the Gangat show as he netted a pair for a total tally of six goals on the night. This was enough to win it for the Nords, who despite Jet efforts towards the end, came out on top 10-8.

 

Falcons defeat Hawks 6-3
The Hawks and Falcons capped off the night in a nice clean game. The Hawks' Omar Husain netted the first of the night, before the Falcons went to work for the 3-1 lead. The star of the night has to go to Mohammed AK Patel, being riveted with shot after shot and holding it down for the Falcons. The second period saw a flurry of attacks toward the Falcon netminder, but his team came through with a trio of goals in the second for the 6-3 win.

 

 

Jets Vs Hawks Saturday February 17th @ 3:30pm

The Hawks and Jets made up their missing game during a special Saturday matinee event. Yasir Husain was in net for the Jets, who went to work on the Hawks. The Hawks looked shaky, and the Jets took advantage with six first period goals. Trailing 6-2 in the second, the Hawks attempted a comeback with a concentrated effort, netting four goals. It was too little too late as the Jets pushed ahead for the 9-6 win. With the trade deadline among us, the teams go into the final stretch of the season.  

Week 7 Previews

Bruins Vs Sharks @ 8:45pm
 

The Sharks and Bruins will battle it out this week, with the Bruins on a high. Having got their first win in the season, they can overtake the Sharks in the standings this week if they play their cards right. To their advantage, the Sharks are without netminder and GM Mohamed Bashir. Can they pull through?

 

Jets Vs Nordiques @ 9:45pm
 

The Jets and Nords go off next; both teams only a point apart in the standings. The Jets suffered their first loss last week and will be looking to get back to their winning ways. Can Captain Khan and team find a way to steal another win?
 

Falcons Vs Hawks @ 10:45pm


The Hawks and Falcons are tied at 8 points each, and something's gotta give. The Hawks have shown their firepower is not a problem, although too many games have stretched out to the last minute. The Hawks have a game in hand as well, which can work in their favour this week.

 

Jets Vs Hawks Saturday February 17th @ 3:30pm

Welcome to a special afternoon show, featuring the Hawks and Jets. With a win, the Jets can reclaim their dominance of the league, especially with just a handful of games left in the season. That being said, don't expect the Hawks to be a walk in the park.


 

Week 6 Summaries

Bruins defeat Nordiques 6-5
 

Ridwaan Khanji was subbing in for the Bruins this week, as they took on the Nords. With such a short bench, it was a surprise they didn't suffer an early collapse. The Nords struck early with goals from Dalvinder Kang and Shoaib Khan. The Bruins fought back at period end to take the 4-3 lead, thanks to a Shahzad Rana double. The second period saw these teams matched so evenly it was impossible to tell who would take it home. With 21 seconds left on the clock, Shoaib Khan would cut the lead to one, but could not capitalize to tie. Bruins win 7-6, the first of the season for them.

 

Hawks defeat Sharks 9-8 
 

Nadir Ahmed would man the pipes for the Sharks, who took on the Hawks in search of a win. The Hawks struck quick with goals from Suhaib Shaikh and Zaheer Kazi. The Sharks came back to tie with goals from Rahman Rana and Sadik Patel. A bullet from Mohammed Kazi would give his team the 4-3 lead going into the second. Continuing on in what could easily be described as the best week in the MMGL so far, both teams traded goals back and forth. Shahrukh Shah would tie it late 8-8 in the game for the Sharks, but Zaheer Kazi would give his team the last minute win. Hawks win this 9-8.

 

Falcons defeat Jets 6-5

The Falcons took on the Jets to cap off a beautiful night of hockey. The Falcons jumped onto the scoreboard quick thanks to Shahid Butt, before Pavan Dulai and Yusuf Ingar would take the 2-1 lead. Finishing strong with goals from Moose Khan and GM Abdul Manjra, the Falcons managed to tie this 4-4 going into the half. The second period saw Ingar with this third of the night, but efforts fell short as Divesh Sharma would net back-to-back goals in the dying minutes for the 6-5 win. The Jets lose their first game of the season. 

 

Week 6 Previews

Bruins Vs Nordiques @ 8:45pm
 

The Nords and Bruins face off again this week, with the Bruins desperately seeking a win. If last week's game was any indication of things to come, the Nords will be walking all over the Bruins unless GM Huzaifah Panchbhaya can work some magic.

 

Hawks Vs Sharks @ 9:45pm


The Sharks and Hawks will fight it out again; the Sharks still without GM and netminder Mohamed Bashir. The Hawks have had a relatively healthy attendance record this season, and should have no trouble seeing a win, should the discipline remain.

 

Falcons Vs Jets @ 10:45pm

The Jets and Falcons are back at it again, too close to call. The Jets stole a win last week in the last minute, and you can expect the Falcons to be much more cautious this week. Can they live up to this chance of redemption and hand the Jets their first loss?

Week 5 Summaries

Jets defeat Falcons 10-9
 

The Jets and Falcons did not disappoint in our game of the night. The Jets were off to a hot start, with goals from Pavan Dulai and Yusuf Ingar. The Falcons got on board with a goal from Divesh Sharma, but the Jets kept firing, with a first period hat trick from Dulai. Sharma's first period triple kept the Falcons in the game, as they trailed 4-7 at the half. The second period saw a strong resurgance from the Falcons, with three straight to tie it all up. Goalies Mohammed AK and Ridwaan Khanji would not let up as both teams traded snipes back and forth. With just under a minute to go and Falcons leading 9-8, Dulai and Ingar would score back-to-back to win this thriller 10-9.

 

Nordiques defeat Bruins 9-4


The Nords and Bruins played in another predictable game. The Nords dominated the first half 5-0, with pairs from Sufyaan Shaikh and Syed Ahmed. The second half saw the game winner scored by Abraar Gangat. The Bruins had some effort to display in the second, with four goals on the night. GM Huzaifah Panchbhaya will need to look into making some serious changes, as his team now sits at the bottom, 0-5 on the season. Nords win this one 9-4.

 

Hawks defeat Sharks 6-3

The Hawks and Sharks capped the night off, with both teams working hard for the win. You could see the hustle on both sides, as it ended in a stalemate 1-1 at period end. Goals from Zaheer Kazi and Rahman Rana kept things even. The second period saw the Hawks regroup and distribute scoring, closing in on the 6-3 win. Sub netminder Ridwaan Khanji stood tall for the Sharks as best he could, while GM Mohamed Bashir is away in the land of field hockey. Hawks win 6-3 to hold onto fourth place.
