Bruins defeat Jets 8-7 SO
This game marked the return of Captain Khan after his one season sabbatical. The Jets got off to a strong start with a 4-0 lead thanks to Fahad Panchbhaya and Abdul Manjra. Hawks defeat Nordiques 8-5
The Hawks and Nords played next in a game that started out strong with both teams going back and forth. Scoring kicked off with a goal from Shahrukh Shah for the 1-0 Hawks lead, before Sadik Patel and Abraar Gangat could one up them. Thanks to a strong first period from Yusuf Ingar, the Hawks managed to go into the half with a 5-2 lead. The second period was all Hawks as the big guns in the Nords like Suhaib Shaikh and Shahzad Rana were effectively shut down. Netting three more goals in the second, the Hawks walk away with a strong 8-5 win, leaving goalie Mohamed Bashir with a slow work day.
Falcons defeat Sharks 5-3
The final game of the night was the slowest, with each team playing conservatively for the win. The Sharks were without Syed Ahmed and Jason Gogna, using a sub and Joe Bruno in net for Kaleem Mirza. The Falcons should have had a field day with the Sharks, but only managed to muster a 1-1 tie by the end of the first. The second period is where they finally managed to walk away with the win, as they started it off with three straight goals, including the very first goal for young star Yusuf Patel. The crowd went wild, and you would have thought this was the game winning goal in the Cup final. When all was said and done, the Falcons won this one 5-3.
Week 2 Previews
Bruins vs Jets @ 8:45pm
The Jets and Bruins will go at it this week in search of building a foundation for the rest of the season. Hawks vs Nordiques @ 9:45pm
The Hawks and Nords face off next, with Sufyaan Shaikh's squad looking to continue their winning ways with the mix of talent they bring forth. The question remains around goalie Shahir Shaikh, as he is pivotal to the team's long term success. As for the Hawks, they will need to put their talent up front in the wake of an uncharacteristic loss last week.
Sharks vs Falcons @ 10:45pm
And finally the Sharks and Falcons face off in the last game of the night. The Sharks will look to rebound after a devastating shootout loss, while the Falcons are flying high on momentum with a monster win last week. Expect a strong game yet again from goalie Musa Bhoola, although one
would be weary not to underestimate the netminding of Kaleem Mirza.

The first game of the season goes to shootout, with Shoaib Rangrez eventually winning it for the Bruins, 8-7.
