Week 9 Summaries
Sharks defeat Hawks 11-7
In our first game of the night as the season winds down, the Sharks and Hawks faced off in a game that was foreshadowing the playoffs. Musa Bhoola and Faizan Khanat were both late and the Sharks were forced to start without a goalie. The Hawks took advantage and scored four straight goals to start, featuring a pair from Sufyan Kazi. With 10 minutes left in the first, the Sharks came back to tie it with goals coming from Rana (2), Bhoola, and Muzammil Khan. The second period saw some give and take from both teams before the Hawks defense collapsed on goalie Nadir Ahmed. The Sharks took advantage and finished strong with a pair of goals from Bhoola to seal the deal. Sharks win 11-7, handing the Hawks their 5th loss in a row.
Jets defeat Falcons 6-2
Up next, the Jets and Falcons faced off in a game that saw a lot of key players missing. The Falcons were without Razi and Yusuf, while the Jets were missing Riz and Ihtisham. The Jets struck first with a pair from Zak Manjra before Sukhvir Mundi would get his team up on the board. Going into the second period, it was all Jets as both teams demonstrated good clean hockey. Mohsin Mahida would score a pair to seal the deal for the Jets who won this one 6-2. As for the Falcons, goalie Mohammed AK kept them in the game as much as possible before the offense defaulted.
Bruins defeat Nordiques 10-0
The Nordiques and Bruins closed things out for the night in a night of historic milestones. Without Shoaib Khan, Ricky Saili, and Jason Gogna, you can already tell the Nords were without sufficient firepower to win this game. The Bruins took advantage and Rahman Rana would go on to score four goals, along with Shadab Patel netting a hat trick. Two minutes into the first period, the Bruins scored their 10th goal, deeming this game a mercy. Bruins goaltender Afzal Vepari recorded the second ever shutout in MMGL history, while the Bruins clinched first place in franchise history. Good on them for keeping the play classy; is this the year for #BruinGang?

Week 8 Summaries
Nordiques defeat Sharks 10-8
The Sharks and Nordiques faced off first in a game that rained heavily with luck. The Nords took advantage of a Sharks team that were without goalie to score 6 empty net goals. Once the Sharks had Musa and Faizan join the game, the Sharks took control and started their comeback that saw three goals to finish the first half, thanks to a pair from Shahzad Rana. Going into the second, the Sharks struck again with goals from Muzammil Khan and Rana, tying the game up at 6-6. Both teams were now tit for tat and traded goals with a tied score of 8 a piece with just under a minute left in regulation. Remember that luck I mentioned earlier? Sufyaan Shaikh managed to squeeze off a lucky bounce past the Sharks netminder with 42 seconds left to win this one for the Nords 10-8.
Bruins defeat Falcons 8-6
Moving on to the game of the night featuring the Falcons and Bruins. Both teams were equally matched as they traded goals back and forth in an effort to gain the upper hand. Tied 2-2 in the first, Shadab and Aziz Patel would score last minute goals to claim the 4-2 lead going into the half. With Faizan filling in for a missing Afzal Vepari, the Falcons had a chance to take advantage but could not muster enough goals, as Mohammed Kazi was one of two Falcons missing on the night. A trio of goals from Jr Rana, Moin Patel, and Aziz would be enough to seal the deal for the Bruins who won this one 8-6.
Jets defeat Hawks 10-5
And finally the Jets and Hawks faced off in a game that didn't even give the Hawks a chance. The Jets started strong with three goals from Nawaz Shaikh (2) and Shoaib Rangrez in the first two minutes of play. The Hawks were without Sufyan Kazi and Abdul Manjra had to leave the game with a bloody injury. The Jets took full control of the game and dominated 6-3 in the first half. More of the same in the second as the lone goal for the Hawks came from Abu Patel while the Jets triumphed on Nawaz Shaikh's 6 goal performance. The Jets win this one easy breezy 10-5.
