Week 8 Previews

Sharks Vs Nordiques @ 8:45pm

To start off the night, the Sharks will look to rebound after a disappointing loss to the first place Bruins and reaffirm their position as a top team in the league. They’ll play a third place Nordiques team who can narrow the gap between the two to just 1 point. Goalie Faizan Khannat is not accustomed to high scoring against him like last week, and with almost having a shutout last time these two met, it will be interesting to see if he and his Sharks can revert back to their defensive game and let the Rana & Bhoola tandem take care of the rest. The Nords on the other hand seem to have benefited from attaining Ricky Saili, squeezing out a close win against his former team, but more is expected from the Kryptonite Triple Threat of Saili, Khan, and Gogna to really make a case of winning it all.

Bruins Vs Falcons @ 9:45pm

The second game of the night has the battle of the first against the last. The Bruins continue to make a statement and keep reeling off huge wins, absolutely dismantling the second place Sharks just last week. There seems to be no sign of slowing down, especially with Shadab Patel returning to the lineup. The Falcons on the other hand have a lot to be boasting about with a huge win themselves with their whole team finally clicking and goalie Mohammed AK Patel finding his groove. With a win and a Hawks loss, the blue birds can tie their bird friends and I’m pretty sure GM Zahid Tubby Patel would love to do just that.

Jets Vs Hawks @ 10:45pm

The last game of the night showcases what could be a first round playoff match between the Hawks and Jets, both 4th and 5th respectively. The Jets coming off a close game which saw them lose in a shootout after an incredible last minute comeback to tie the game, look to leap frog the Hawks in the standings who were devastated the week prior. GM Fahim Limbada knows this is a game he needs to win to prevent dropping another seed in the standings and is hoping he’ll get some secondary scoring against a Jets team,  who are more than capable of scoring a ton of goals in more than one way.

Week 7 Summaries

Falcons defeat Hawks 9-3

The Falcons and Hawks kicked things off this week in a post-trade game that saw both Mohammed Kazi of the Falcons and Sufyan Kazi of the Hawks absent. There would be no mercy from the Falcons' GM Zahid Patel as his new look squad would apply the pressure almost immediately with four goals to start the game thanks to four different players. The Hawks finally got on board with just two minutes left in the first with a goal from Syed Ahmed. The Falcons wouldn't be shaken as they continued their dominating play in the second period with Razi Ahmed having a four goal night. The lone goal in the second for the Hawks came from GM Fahim Limbada who saw his team get blown out 9-3.

Bruins defeat Sharks 11-3

Moving on, the Sharks and Bruins battled it out for first place. The Sharks were without a goalie to start the game and the Bruins took no time netting four goals in his absence all thanks to Rahman Rana. The Sharks aimed to get back in it with goals coming from Musa Bhoola and Faizan Kazi, but the Bruins remained relentless even after Khannat was between the pipes. The Sharks were shut out in the second period while the Bruins went on a free for all scoring five goals including a pair from Aziz Patel. Rahman Rana finished the night with 6 goals as the Bruins dominated 11-3 to firmly establish themselves as Number 1.

Nordiques defeat Jets 10-9 SO

And to cap the night off, the Jets and Nordiques faced off in the only close game of the night. The Jets struck first with a goal from Shoaib Rangrez, equalized a minute later thanks to Manjot Bhatti. The Jets struck again with a pair this time thanks to Rizwan Hassan and Shahrukh Shah. The Nords replied with a barrage of goals thanks to five different players before the Jets snuck one in close to period end. Nords led 6-4 at the half but the Jets stayed within reach thanks to goals from Mohsin Mahida and Nawaz Shaikh. The Nords led 9-8 with Rizwan Hassan taking a penalty with just 3 minutes left in the game. With 34 seconds left on the clock Nawaz Shaikh would tie it up sending this game to SO. Goalie Kaleem Mirza stood tall as the Nords managed to score 2 shootout goals to win this one 10-9.

Week 7 Previews

Falcons Vs Hawks @ 8:45pm

The Falcons and Hawks will battle it out first this week as both teams will work towards getting back on to winning ways. The Hawks were absolutely decimated last week and would like to get a fresh start on the second half of this season. As for the Falcons, they need to figure out a way to close out games if they want to become a force to contend with.

Bruins Vs Sharks @ 9:45pm

The Sharks and Bruins will face off next in our selected game of the night. The Bruins have been near indestructible this season and will be looking to gain even more momentum. That being said, the Sharks are not a team to take lightly as their superstars have come out in moments of dire need to shine bright.

Jets Vs Nordiques @ 10:45

And finally, the Jets and Nords will face off in a game that is sure to be a toss up. Both teams have the potential to be cup winners, but it will all depend on who wants it more. Goal tending will be the common denominator this week and will be the result one team grabs that W.
