Week 6 Summaries
Nordiques defeat Falcons 7-6
The Nords and Falcons faced off in the closest game of the night. Nords are without Shahrukh and Falcons are missing Razi. The Falcons strike first with a goal from Umar Panchbhaya, equalized minutes later thanks to Shoaib Khan. The Falcons net two more thanks to a first period hat trick from Umar Panchbhaya taking a 4-3 lead before period end. The Nords would tie it at 18:20 in the second with Khan's third goal of the night. This game went back and forth resulting in a 6-6 tie that would see the game go to a shootout. Fortunate for the Nordiques, Sufyaan Kazi would take a senseless penalty in the last minute of play, resulting in Manjot Bhatti scoring the game winner with 1.7 seconds left on the clock. Nords win this 7-6.
Sharks defeat Jets 7-4
The Jets and Sharks faced off next in a game that was all Sharks from the get go. Musa Bhoola scored first for the Sharks with Ihtisham Qureshi tying it up minutes later for the Jets. The Sharks scored another three thanks to Zahid Pancbhaya, Muzammil Khan, and Musa Bhoola. The Jets cut the lead to two with a goal from Shoaib Rangrez before period end. The Sharks continued their domination in the second period with yet another two goals from Musa Bhoola. Sharks win this one 7-4 with the silver lining for the Jets being a hat trick from Rangrez.
Bruins defeat Hawks 10-3
The Bruins and Hawks faced off next in a Limbada match up. The Bruins looked to even the series and did everything right. Starting strong, the Bruins scored four goals to assert their dominance with scoring coming from Shadab Patel, Mu'een Bharucha and Rahman Rana. The Hawks had no answer, even with call up goalie Faizan Khannat, except for a scuffle that broke out resulting in the ejection of Mohammed Kazi and Shadab Patel. Onto the second period, where the Bruins kept it up and scored another six goals to dominate their way to a 10-3 win. Special mention goes to Syed Ahmed for netting two on the night.
Week 6 Previews
Falcons Vs Nordiques @ 8:45pm
The Nords and Falcons will be facing off first this week as both aim to get back on track. The Falcons are coming off of a tough last minute loss and will be determined to grab a win against a Nords team that is struggling to find its offensive mojo in someone not named Shoaib Khan. Both teams boast strong goalies and will be looking to gain the upperhand early on in the game to seal the deal.
Jets Vs Sharks @ 9:45pm
Next up the Jets and Sharks will battle it out in what is my personal pick for the game of the night. Both teams have displayed offensive capabilities required to succeed in this league, although the Jets will need another defensive boost if goalie Kazi is to grab his second win in a row. Expect big plays from the big guns, although something tells me this game will bring out the best in both teams.
Bruins Vs Hawks @ 10:45pm
And to cap the night, the Limbada brothers will go at it as the Bruins and Hawks faceoff. The Hawks were dumbfounded last week as they could not muster up the offensive potency required to pull off the win. As for the Bruins, everything is going right and this team is by far the league favourite in terms of entertainment. Expect Fahim Limbada and company to put up a strong fight as pride is on the line as well.
