Week 5 Summaries

Bruins defeat Nordiques 12-8

The Nords and Bruins went at it first this week in a solid game that saw goals going back and forth. The Nords struck first with a goal from Shoaib Khan before the Bruins' Moin Patel equalized. The Nords scored a pair thereafter with goals from Manjot Bhatti and Khan again. The Bruins retaliated with an all out attack that saw four straight goals thanks to Shadab Patel, Aziz Patel (2), and Moin Patel. Bruins led 7-4 after the first. Starting the second, the Nordiques managed to tie things up with three straight goals from Shoaib Khan who was an absolute beast, finishing with six goals on the night. Unfortunately for the Nords, their defensive collapse allowed for the Bruins to regain the lead led by two goals from Rahman Rana. Bruins win this contest 12-8.

Sharks defeat Hawks 5-3

On to the next one, the Hawks Sharks faced off with the Sharks missing Shahzad Rana and Muzammil Khan in the second period. The Hawks took advantage with a two goal lead to start the game with goals from Abdul Manjra and Syed Ahmed. Determined not to experience another blowout, goalie Faizan Khanat stood strong between the pipes as the Sharks cut the lead in half with a goal from Musa Bhoola. The second period saw more Sharks action as Bhoola would complete the hat trick. The Hawks could not generate any offensive chances as Andrew Persaud was an absolute defensive shutdown force. Mark it as a win for Kazi and the gang, as the Sharks walk away victorious 5-3.

Jets defeat Falcons 9-8

And to cap the night off, the Falcons and Jets fought hard for a win. The Falcons introduced Razi Ahmed with a full bench while the Jets came with a full squad of their own. Easily the game of the night as both teams went tit for tat in scoring. The Falcons struck first with a goal from Sufyan Kazi, only to be met with four straight goals from the Jets thanks to Ricky Saili (2) and Shoaib Rangrez (2).  Leading 5-2 after the first, it seemed like a tough uphill battle for the Falcons, but they came out strong in the second with 5 straight goals thanks to a Sufyan Kazi hat trick and cleanup work from Umar Panchbhaya and Yusuf Ingar. Minutes later Jets would regain the 8-7 lead thanks to hustling work from the entire team. Ihtisham Qureshi would serve a costly penalty in the dying minutes, and the Falcons took advantage with a powerplay goal from Yusuf Ingar. A shootout seemed inevitable but the hero of the night would be Rizwan Hassan scoring the game winner with 8.9 seconds left on the clock and the Jets win this one 9-8.
