Nordiques defeat Falcons 6-5

The Falcons and Nordiques went at it in an incredibly close game Friday night. The Falcons were without Farhsan Saleh and Karan Bagga while the Nords were Shahrukh Shah-less. That being said, the Falcons came out hard scoring three straight thanks to Sadik Patel and Sufyan Kazi (2). The Nords got one in the last minute of the first thanks to Jason Gogna to trail 3-1. The second period saw more organized Nords play with contributions coming from the likes of Joe Bruno, GM Sufyaan Shaikh, and Shoaib Khan. A very strong 5 goal period was enough to propel them to a win despite a comeback attempt from Umar Panchbhaya in the last minute. Nords win this one 6-5.

Sharks defeat Jets 9-4

Next up the Jets and Sharks face off in a game that truly tested the wit of goalie Fayaz Kazi. The Jets struck first with a goal from GM Navdeep Virdi. Aiming to shut down any momentum, the Sharks turned up the heat and scored three straight thanks to contributions from Faizan Kazi, Shahzad Rana, and Zahid Panchbhaya. Leading 3-1 going into the second, the Sharks kept up their assault but the Jets fought back with a pair of goals from Ricky Saili to keep them within range. With 6 minutes left in play and the score 5-4 advantage Sharks, Rana would go off for a second period hat trick to seal the deal and win this one 9-4.
