Week 6 Previews

Bruins Vs Nordiques @ 8:45 pm

The Bruins and Nords will be facing off first this week. The Bruins underwent a huge roster shuffle after losing in dramatic fashion last week. They welcome new goalie Kaleem Mirza and additional firepower in the form of Sufyaan Kazi, Faizan Kazi, and Arif Billa. Perhaps this offensive change is exactly what they needed to get into a winning swing this late in the stretch. As for the Nords, they will be looking for another win with a full bench this week. Scoring has spread out across the team and they are definitely looking to be a threat.

Hawks Vs Sharks @ 9:45 pm

The Sharks and Hawks will face off next, with both teams coming off of huge wins. The momentum will hit an abrupt wall for one of these teams before the clock hits 11. The Sharks are looking to use their diversity in scoring all while providing much needed backup to goalie Mohamed Bashir. The Hawks on the other hand will have to utilize their quickness and stamina to beat a team that looks much better on paper.

Jets Vs Falcons @ 10:45 pm

And finally the Falcons and Jets will cap things off for the night. Both teams are coming off of very tough losses and will be looking to grab a W. The Jets will aim to ensure they have a full bench this week that is not without Adil Patel as his presence was missed dearly last week. As for the Falcons, a new look and goalie may be all it takes for them to end the season on a supercharged run to the cup.

Week 5 Summaries

Nordiques defeat Falcons 8-3

The Falcons and Nords faced off first after a week off from Turkey weekend. The Falcons struck first with a goal from Shahzad Rana who has essentially been carrying the team. Huzeifa Patel would tie things up for the Nords but it would be Rana again to give the Falcons the much needed lead against replacement goalie Mohammed AK Patel. With Rizwan Hassan out for the Nords and Saajid Bhayat and Muddy Hussain out for the Falcons, you could tell where this game was going. The Nords attacked from all angles and silenced the Hawks for the last thirty minutes of play with Muzammil Khan, Ryan Hamchand, and Shoaib Khan all scoring two goals a piece to rout the Falcons 8-3. Better luck next time.

Sharks defeat Jets 7-6

The Jets and Sharks faced off in a game to remember as the Jets were without Adil Patel and a select few others leaving it all up to Ricky Saili to fend for himself. To their advantage the Sharks were playing horribly almost as if they forgot how to play the game. The Jets opened scoring with three straight from Sadik Patel to celebrate an early game hat trick. The Sharks finally got it together and scored 4 goals to claim their first lead of the game before ending the period. Two of these goals were from none other than Zahid Panchbhaya. Moving into the second, Panchbhaya would get his third for a hat trick, giving the Sharks the 5-3 lead before a goal from Saili would cut it down to one. It just wasn't Mohamed Bashir's game as everything was going in, including a last minute goal from Sadik Patel to bring the game to a one goal differential. Luckily the Sharks held on for the 7-6 win and can walk away knowing they beat the Jets...barely.

Hawks defeat Bruins 12-3

Finally the Hawks and Bruins faced off in a game the Bruins will want to forget. The Hawks struck first with 5 goals courtesy of Zabir Khannat (2), Musa Bhoola (2), and Zakaria Manjra. The lone goal from the Bruins in the first came from Erfan Bhanapatel. Going into the second, Bhanapatel would score his second to give his team some hope before it was brutally taken away from them. The Hawks were raining down shots on goalie Abbas Shaikh who received absolutely no help from his teammates. Running nonstop around the Bruins, this game finished 13-3 where the Hawks combined for 23 points on the night!

Week 5 Previews

Falcons Vs Nordiques @ 8:45 pm

The Falcons take on the Nords in the first game back after turkey weekend. Both teams are coming off of a loss and will be looking to get back into winning ways. The Falcons boast a creative offense that can adapt to game situations now that all-star Shahzad Rana is back in motion. As for the Nords, more is expected of the big three that should be dominating the offense. At the end of the day, this one will be determined by the better goalie.

Jets Vs Sharks @ 9:45 pm

The Sharks and Jets will be facing off next in a game that is bound to be full of energy. The Sharks are coming off a loss that can be attributed to poor attendance, and will be looking to grab a huge win with a full roster against the undefeated Jets. The Jets will continue to do what they are doing with GM Ricky Saili and Adil Patel dominating the offense and effectively controlling the pace of their game.

Hawks Vs Bruins @ 10:45 pm

The speedy Hawks will take on the Bruins in our last game of the night. Both teams are coming off of huge wins and will want to continue building that momentum. There is no doubt the Hawks have the talent and energy to wear down the Bruins who are only managing to garner offense from a select few players. That being said, goalie Abbas Shaikh has been the core of this team and will be the difference maker in this game.

Week 4 Summaries

Hawks defeat Falcons 11-7

The Hawks and Falcons faced off first this week in a game that gave one team some serious legitimacy. The Falcons scored two quick ones with goals from Shahzad Rana and Arif Hanslod. The Hawks pushed back with a pair of goals from Zakaria Manjra and a goal from Zabir Khannat. With both teams trading goals back and forth, it was unclear which one would have the upper hand. Falcons led 5-4 going into the half. The second half was dominated by the Hawks, who were determined to show the league what they are capable of. They scored six straight goals, which included a pair from Aziz Patel to effectively rout the Falcons and win a shocker 10-6.

Bruins defeat Sharks 6-5

The Bruins took on the Sharks in a desperate bid to win their first game. Working in their favor was the lack of Shoaib Rangrez and Abu Hafejee on the Sharks squad. The Bruins struck first with two goals on board thanks to Erfan Bhanapatel and GM Suhaib Shaikh. GM Syed Ahmed would get his team on the board, but EBP would net his second of the night to give the Bruins the 3-1 lead going into the half. The second period saw another two goals from Bhanapatel, with victory all within sight of ten minutes left to play. The Sharks were determined to win this and forced a tie with four straight goals in a four minute span thanks to Umar Panchbhaya and Syed Ahmed. With the clock dying down, the hero of this game would be Erfan Bhanapatel as his fifth goal of the night give the Bruins their first win of the season 6-5.

Jets defeat Nordiques 6-5

And to cap the night off, the Nords took on the Jets in a surprisingly close game. I say surprising because the Nords were without Rizwan Hassan and GM Shoaib Khan. Nords struck first with a goal from Muzammil Khan, before Abu Patel of the Jets would tie it up. Nords led 3-2 after the first in a game that was very heavy on defense. The second period saw more of the same style of gameplay with both teams trading goals back and forth before the Jets eventually broke away with three unanswered in the dying minutes. Fahim Limbada scored a pair to tie it up at 5 a piece, and Adil Patel would net the winner with 30 seconds left on the clock. Jets win this one 6-5.
