Week 4 Summaries

Hawks defeat Falcons 11-7

The Hawks and Falcons faced off first this week in a game that gave one team some serious legitimacy. The Falcons scored two quick ones with goals from Shahzad Rana and Arif Hanslod. The Hawks pushed back with a pair of goals from Zakaria Manjra and a goal from Zabir Khannat. With both teams trading goals back and forth, it was unclear which one would have the upper hand. Falcons led 5-4 going into the half. The second half was dominated by the Hawks, who were determined to show the league what they are capable of. They scored six straight goals, which included a pair from Aziz Patel to effectively rout the Falcons and win a shocker 10-6.

Bruins defeat Sharks 6-5

The Bruins took on the Sharks in a desperate bid to win their first game. Working in their favor was the lack of Shoaib Rangrez and Abu Hafejee on the Sharks squad. The Bruins struck first with two goals on board thanks to Erfan Bhanapatel and GM Suhaib Shaikh. GM Syed Ahmed would get his team on the board, but EBP would net his second of the night to give the Bruins the 3-1 lead going into the half. The second period saw another two goals from Bhanapatel, with victory all within sight of ten minutes left to play. The Sharks were determined to win this and forced a tie with four straight goals in a four minute span thanks to Umar Panchbhaya and Syed Ahmed. With the clock dying down, the hero of this game would be Erfan Bhanapatel as his fifth goal of the night give the Bruins their first win of the season 6-5.

Jets defeat Nordiques 6-5

And to cap the night off, the Nords took on the Jets in a surprisingly close game. I say surprising because the Nords were without Rizwan Hassan and GM Shoaib Khan. Nords struck first with a goal from Muzammil Khan, before Abu Patel of the Jets would tie it up. Nords led 3-2 after the first in a game that was very heavy on defense. The second period saw more of the same style of gameplay with both teams trading goals back and forth before the Jets eventually broke away with three unanswered in the dying minutes. Fahim Limbada scored a pair to tie it up at 5 a piece, and Adil Patel would net the winner with 30 seconds left on the clock. Jets win this one 6-5.

Week 4 Previews

Falcons Vs Hawks @ 8:45 pm

Battle of the birds as the Hawks and Falcons both look for a win to legitimize their respective teams as a threat. The Falcons are coming off a slow win against the Bruins and will be looking towards Shahzad Rana to be a potent offensive threat. It's safe to say GM Abdul Manjra's team is complete now and there are no excuses for falling short. As for the Hawks, a reeling loss against the Jets should not faze them as they know they have what it takes to win it all. A full bench and few lucky bounces is all it will take to grab that win.

Bruins Vs Sharks @ 9:45 pm

Next up, the Sharks and Bruins will face off as the Bruins will be looking to grab their first win and give the Sharks their first loss. The Bruins no doubt have the offensive capabilities to win; all they need now is a focus on defense and a full bench to support all-star goalie Abbas Shaikh. As for the Sharks, they've proven they can win without first rounder Abu Hafejee, and will be looking to cement their name in this season's bid for the cup.

Jets Vs Nordiques @ 10:45 pm

And finally the Nords and Jets will face off in a game that is very likely to get physical towards the end. The Jets have been on cruise control since day one and may finally be put to the test against a team that can use its size as its biggest asset. GM Shoaib Khan will need to shut down Ricky Saili and Adil Patel if he wants that win, and GM Saili will have to keep an alternate strategy ready in the likely case the Nords go full lockdown.

Week 3 Summaries

Sharks defeat Nordiques 5-4 SO

The Nords and Sharks faced off first to kick off Week 3. The Sharks were without their first round pick Abu Hafejee but that didn't stop them from scoring the first goal thanks to Andrew Persaud. The Nords would not have it as GM Shoaib Khan scored his first of the night to tie it up at one. Both teams traded goals back and forth in one of the most defensive games of the season that saw a lot of clean physical play. The Sharks had the seemingly upper hand with a 4-2 lead thanks to Shoaib Rangrez and GM Syed Ahmed, but the Nords were not giving up. With 8 seconds left in play Khan would score to make it 4-3 and his first rounder Rizwan Hassan would tie it up with 1.2 left on the clock to force our first shootout of the season. Goaltended Mohamed Bashir was all too strong for the Nords and GM Syed Ahmed would have the last laugh as he scored the winner. Sharks win 5-4 SO.

Falcons defeat Bruins 5-3

The Bruins and Falcons faced off next in a game that did not live up to its hype. The undermanned Bruins scored first with a goal from GM Suhaib Shaikh, while first rounder Shahzad Rana returned to make his debut. He would assist Arif Billa on the Falcons' first goal to tie things up. Neither team anticipated a slow game but that is what it turned out to be as the Bruins took multiple trips to the box, with only goalie Abbas Shaikh keeping them in the game. The Falcons would win this one with Rana's second goal of the night and win this contest 5-3. The Bruins are now 0-3 and GM Suhaib Shaikh knows it's time to start making some trades.

Jets defeat Hawks 9-5

And finally the Jets and Hawks took on the short-benched Hawks, with a rumor circulating it's all due to lack of playing time. The Jets set the tone for the night, producing three goals thanks to GM Ricky Saili (2) and Adil Patel. The Jets pushed back to tie in the period with goals from Sadik Backhand Patel (2) and Fahim Limbada. Sukhvir Mundi would add a pair to start the second and the Hawks are on top 5-3. It's at this point in the game where all-star Adil patel decided to dictate the flow of the game and set up two goals along with scoring another to rout the Jets 9-5. The Hawks were simply out of gas and let in 6 unanswered goals to finish the night.
