Week 2 Summaries

Sharks defeat Hawks 3-2

The Hawks and Sharks faced off in a game that displayed some very clean hockey and exemplary skill. The Hawks had the only goal in the first with a powerplay goal from Zabir Khannat. The Sharks aimed to give goalie Faizan Khannat everything they could, but to no avail. The second period saw the Sharks regroup and attack in waves producing goals form Abu Hafejee (2) and Andrew Persaud. A goal from Musa Bhoola in the dying minutes of the game would not be enough for them as the Sharks' Mohamed Bashir fended off every other attack to hold on and win this game 3-2.

Jets defeat Falcons 9-8

The Jets and Falcons played next in one of the most offensive games thus far this season. The Falcons are still without first rounder Shahzad Rana and were without enforcer Mohammed Iqbal as they took on Ricky and Adil. The dynamic duo combined for the first four goals for the Jets, while the Falcons split points between Arif Billa Hanslod and GM Abdul Manjra. Jets led 5-3 going into the half pretty confident. And that's when he lashed out...Billa, as they call him scored three straight in the second period in a span of 42 seconds to give the Falcons the 7-5 lead. Unfortunately for them, all juice had run out and the Jets would come back to tie it at 8 a piece. GM Ricky Saili would work his magic and score the game winner at 1:34. The Falcons were positive they had scored a goal to tie with 10 seconds left, but the skilled hand of goalie Yasir Hussain would be there to deny them. Jets win 9-8.

Nordiques defeat Bruins 6-4

The Nords and Bruins, easily the two biggest teams in the league capped things off at 10:45. The Nords were without their goaltender Ali Khwaja to start and the Bruins' GM Suhaib Shaikh okay'd to have Yasir Hussain play as replacement. The Bruins' Erfan Bhanapatel took advantage and score in the first two minutes on the powerplay, before the Nords would come back and tie. Bruins led 2-1 in a very physical game going into the half. With goalie Khwaja back in net, the Nords re-focused their approach as both teams traded goals back and forth (and a few punches). Despite an EBP hat trick, the Nordiques took full control of the game in the last ten minutes, working the Bruins to exhaustion and capitalizing on a powerplay. Sufyaan Shaikh finished the night with a hat trick of his own as the Nords win this one 6-4.
