Jets defeat Kings 6-5

After another two week hiatus, the MMGL was back in action on Friday. The Kings and Jets started things off, and one could already tell the Jets were dying to play. Through 17 minutes of play they dominated and had four unanswered goals with distributed scoring. Goalie Yasir Hussain played an almost perfect half before letting in last minute goal by Kings' Gurjeet Jhutty. Going into the second, the Kings started off scoring only to have the Jets return two of their own. 6-2 for the Jets and then starts the amazing push by the Kings Abdul Manjra. He managed to score two goals and assist on a Zakaria Manjra wrister to bring his team within one to tie. Unfortunate for him though as Yasir Hussain's goaltending outshone that of Stephen Corradino. Jets win an amazingly close game 6-5. Keep a future heads up for brother duo Ricky and Vikram Saili, who seem to be meshing very well.

Bruins defeat Falcons 8-5

Next up were the 2-0 Falcons going up against the Bruins who have been off for a long time (I used to have hair when they last played). A very physical half translated into poor scoring on both sides, as Bruins led 2-1 after one. Rizwan Hassan led the way with two points while Adnan Hashmi had the lone goal for the Falcons. Going into the second the Falcons came out strong scoring two goals supplied by Abraham Iqbal and Shoaib Rangrez, only to have Suhaib Shaikh tie it up for the Bruins. Both teams traded goals back and forth to tie it up at 5 with 1:40 left in the game. Remember last season when the Bruins lost two important tied games in the last minutes to the Nordiques? Well I guess third time's the charm as Rizwan Hassan assisted in two goals and scored his own to seal the deal for the Bruins. A very physical game played, but experience eventually out muscled youth.

Hawks defeat Sharks 7-5

And out last game went to the Hawks and Sharks. The Sharks were without Yusuf Ingar and Varish Shaikh made his return to the Hawks. The Hawks dominated the first half with goals from Adil Patel, Nawaz Shaikh, and Joe Bruno. GM Zahid Panchbhaya had the lone goal in the half for his team. To start the second the Hawks received supplementary scoring from Muhammad Waleed and Fahim Limbada to have the team go up 6-1. Zahid Panchbhaya fought hard to keep his team in the game but this was a serious one sided affair. Final score 7-5 for the Hawks. Our fans would have loved to see Yusuf Ingar in play against Adil Patel, but we will have to reserve that for another day. Special mention goes to Varish Shaikh for playing a solid game after a 3+ month vacation.

Jets Vs Kings @ 8:45pm

After yet another mandatory bye week, the league is up and running once again. The missed week of games will be played at the end of the regular season. First up this week we've got the Jets taking on the Kings. Both teams are coming off of exciting wins and the ultimate fate of this game will be determined by the goalies. Stephen Corradino showed the league why he was the number one pick and kept his cool as his rocket offense GMs closed the game in the dying minutes. That being said, Yasir Hussain was nothing short of spectacular in the Jets win over the Hawks. The Jets should be looking to shut down Jason Gogna if they are to limit the Kings offense. The Kings will need the play making abilities of Zakaria Manjra to set up GM Abdul to push for the win. It's early to call it, but the Jets already seem to have found their chemistry, while the Kings are still working it out.

Falcons Vs Bruins @ 9:45

Next up we've got the youthful Falcons against the experienced Bruins. The Bruins will be relying heavily on their GMs to bring the offense and keep the Falcons away from goaltender Amer Shaikh. The Bruins have been out of play for three weeks now and will definitely be rusty coming out. The Falcons should take advantage and get on the board early, making use of the offensive capabilities of Mohsin Mahida and Shoaib Rangrez. Considering offense is coming from all avenues for the Falcons, the Bruins will need to play a solid man on man defense to win. The Falcons should lockdown on Rizwan Hassan and Mazhar Hussain, and put goalie Amer Shaikh to the test.

Hawks Vs Sharks @ 10:45pm

The final game goes to the Hawks and Sharks. This should be nothing short of explosive, as we have coveted long distance runner Zahid Panchbhaya going against Adil Patel. But of course everyone will be counting points as this season Yusuf Ingar seems to have met his opponent in Adil Patel. This competition could prove to be counter productive for each team, so be mindful of secondary offense. Hard to say which way this one will go, as the Hawks always have the goalie option. The Hawks should expect Nawaz Shaikh to lead his team in the event that they're offense is shut down. The Sharks also have reserve offense and would be wise to have all pistons firing, as the Hawks are all too comfortable taking the game to a shootout.
