Nordiques defeat Kings 11-2
With both teams coming into the game with losses from the previous week, there was a sense of urgency in the air. The Nordiques started the game without star forward Yusuf Ingar, but that didn't stop them from going up 3-0 in the first few minutes of the period with goals from Shoaib Khan and Asif Saleh. A controversial goal (what looked like goalie interference) by Senti Rasa got the Kings back into the game. With a goal from Nordiques defensive line Sabir Shaikh (G) and Asif Saleh (A), the period ended with Nordiques up 4-1. The second half saw the return of Yusuf Ingar, who took no time at all getting onto the scoreboard. He finished the night with 3 goals and 2 assists. The Kings were held in their zone defensively and were forced to take long range shots, only one of which got past Nordiques net-minder Yasser Husain (Yasir Habib from Ridwaan Khanji). With two minutes remaining, and Asif Saleh getting the last goal of the night with a quick pass from Yusuf Ingar, the Nordiques put this 11-2 game away for good.

Bruins Defeat Kings 14-4
Summary to come.
Sharks Defeat Nordiques 7-6 SO
In a night full of surprises, the Sharks and Nordiques did not disappoint. The Nordiques were the favoured team going into the game, with Sharks GM Zahid Panchbhaya starting the game off in the box for lack of a jersey. Although they failed to score on the powerplay, Shoaib Khan put the Nordiques up soon enough with a quick pass from Yusuf Ingar. The remainder of the game became a back and forth affair as each team traded goals, including a shorthanded goal by Belal Hafeez off a bad turnover from the Nordiques. With Fahim Limbada putting away his second goal of the night, the Sharks looked like they had the 6-5 victory within reach. With one last rush, the Nordiques dynamic duo Jason Gogna (G) and Yusuf Ingar (A) managed to tie up the game to force the season's first shootout. Sharks GM Zahid Panchbhaya scored the first goal, only to be matched by a stellar goal by Nordiques GM Shoaib Khan. The shootout went another 5 rounds with shooters unable to get past Nordiques Yasir Hussain and Sharks Uzair Baig. Sharks' Belal Hafeez managed to seal the deal in the 7th round as Nordiques' Asif Saleh failed to tie it up. The Nordiques should be happy to walk away with a point in a game that should have been theirs from start to finish. The Sharks earned a well deserved 2 points.

Week 3 Previews
Bruins Vs Kings @ 8:45pm
Bruins and Kings start off the night; both teams coming off of big trades. Kings had a heart breaking loss in their first game and lost only by a goal. Bruins on the other hand were man handled by the mighty Falcons. Both teams have firepower on the offensive side, but both teams lack on the defensive end. Shoaib Rangrez will lead the offense for the Kings and will match up against Bruins sniper Mudassar Hussain. Bruins goalie Kaleem Mirza will have to be on his head and help his team in making those key saves. This game is evenly matched, as both teams will be working hard to add a game in the win column.

Nordiques Vs Sharks @ 9:45pm
The second game of the night will feature the power house Nordiques and the feisty Sharks. Sharks are coming off a victory from the last game, so they should have some momentum going into this game. Nordiques on the other hand have been rolling this season and probably the best team out there. Offense, defense and the goal tending of Yasir Hussain is all going in the right direction for this team. Young Yusuf Ingar leads the team and the league with 10 goals. Sharks on the other hand traded their sniper away for Youngster Mohamed Kazi, so there will definitely be a gap on the offence. Zahid Panchbhaya and Belal Hafeez will be heavily relied on to provide scoring. Uzair Baig will have to be on his toes as he will be up against the most skilled offense in the league. If Nordiques continue to do what they do, then this should be a one sided game.

Hawks Vs Falcons @ 10:45pm
Hawks down two games and Falcons up two games in the season. This will definitely be a one sided affair. Falcons are one of the early favorites for the Verdi Cup as they probably have the most balanced team in the league. GM Shakir will have to bring the Hawks back on track. Adil Mirza was left hanging in his first game, so the defense lead by Zubair Patel and Gurjeet Jhutty will have to be sharp. Mazhar Hussain and Parmeet Uppal will have to step it up and show some energy on the floor to break through the Falcons blue wall lead by Navdeep Virdi and company. Will the Hawks earn their first win? Or will they add another game to the loss column?

Week 2 Results
Sharks Defeat Hawks 5-2
The night kicked off with the Sharks going face to face against the Hawks as both teams were hungry for the first win. Hawks coming out from a very shocking trade and giving up their captain, Shoaib Rangrez, and forward Senti Rasa to the kings for Sufyaan Shaikh and Sniper Mazhar Hussain. The first period was back and forth between the two with few of the forwards managing to break through the goaltending of Uzair Baig and filler Syed Ahmed. Sharks captain Belal Hafeez scored the first goal of the game and newly acquired Mazhar Hussain scored his first as a Hawk to tie the game. Later in the first, Cricket superstar Varish Shaikh scored his second of the season to give his team the lead. The first period came to an end with a score of 2-1 in favor for the Sharks. The second period started with the Sharks getting into penalty trouble and giving the Hawks a golden opportunity to take the lead, but they could not get anything through the green wall of Uzair Baig and the penalty kill lead by GM Zahid Panchbhaya. Midway through the second period, the Sharks reeled off 3 more goals from Abdul Kazi and a pair from Zahid to add to their lead making the score 5-2. That’s all she wrote for the Hawks on this night. Special mention goes to Fayaz Kazi of the Sharks who ended the night with 4 assists.

Falcons Defeat Bruins 8-4
The second game of the night featured the Falcons and the Bruins. Critics mentioned this to be the game of the night and it sure was entertaining. You have the Falcons on one hand, with a well groomed team in offense and defense. On the other hand, you have the Bruins with firepower on offense with Mudassar Hussain and Rizwan Hassan. However, this game started with Falcons Suhaib Shaikh popping in 2 goals on Kaleem Mirza and giving his team the lead. The Bruins were down two goals and were up against probably the best goalie in this league; Stephen Corradino. He was a monster in net making 32 saves on the night against a very potent offense. Midway through the first, veteran Mudassar Hussain had a glorious opportunity on a breakaway to score, but the hot glove of Stephen came through to make the save. Eventually, Captain Rizwan Hassan of the Bruins got them back on track by cutting the lead to one. In the second, the game went back and forth with both teams exchanging goals. GM Zakaria Manjra added a couple and Sniper Dalvinder Kang added 3 to complete the hat trick. Rizwan Hassan was a one man wrecking crew for the Bruins as he scored all 4 goals for his team. The game ended with a final score of 8-4 and the Falcons remain perfect on the season.

Nordiques Defeat Jets 9-6
Both Jets and Nordiques came into their game with the momentum of last week’s respective wins. In a game that was expected to show offensive fireworks, there were no disappointments. However the first half showed a fantastic display of defense and goaltending from both teams. Yusuf Ingar who could easily be named the hero behind the win scored his first two of six goals in the first half to give the Nordiques a 2-0 edge over the Jets. However, former teammate Ricky Saili showed why he was last year’s MVP by scoring two of his four goals to tie the game. As the second half began the Jets seemed to have trouble taking off as the Nordiques scored 4 straight to bring the score to 6-2. But the jets were not grounded as of yet as Jaspreet Brar scored his first goal to refuel a near empty tank of the Jets. However the Jets could not withstand the relentless offensive onslaught from Yusuf Ingar and his fellow Nordiques who blasted the net with shots. Jets had numerous chances to score as they pressed late in the game, but the goaltending of Yasir Hussain continues to surprise the league as he was up to the challenge and made some jaw breaking saves. However, one highlight of the night was the robbery of Rajin Patel by a sprawling Deepinder Brar however in the end it was the Nordiques who were able to ground the Jets behind Yusuf’s 6 goal performance with a final score of 9-6.

Week 2 Previews
Hawks Vs Sharks @ 8:45pm
With both teams coming off of losses in their season openers, this game should be a fast paced with one, battling for the ever so important first win of the season. The Sharks will be hoping to have Belal Hafeez and Abdul Hamid Kazi back in the lineup for some extra boost and motivation. GM Zahid Panchbhaya will need to identify key strengths in his team and utilize his own speed and hustle to his advantage and help produce some secondary scoring. As for the ‘evolved’ Hawks, GM Shakir Shaikh seems to be very confident in newly acquired forwards Mazhar Hussain and nephew Sufyaan Shaikh (who is rumored to be named the next captain). On the defensive end, the Hawks will also look to have Zubair Patel make his debut in the line up alongside Gurjeet Jhutty, who should be well and back from his injury. Both defense and offense needs to improve from last game in order for Goalie Adil Mirza to be able to back up his team. Only time will tell which team will reach .500 and which team will be held pointless in their first two games.

Bruins VS Falcons @ 9:45pm
Rumor has it that this could end up being the game of the night. Even though almost 75% of the players have not played this season yet, this game has already been coined as the “game to watch” by many spectators. The Falcons are coming off a huge 1-goal victory, despite having no bench. It’ll be interesting to see if power forward Suhaib Shaikh can duplicate his performance once again. Teammate from last season, Sadiq Patel, will likely make his debut alongside Uzair Mayat and Manjot Bhatti. Two-way forward Navdeep Virdi will need to continue his dominance on D as well in order for his team to compete against their opponents. GM Faiz Vaid and his Bruins team will be playing their first ever MMGL game as a franchise, and there are many reasons for high expectations. In short, you have “Hassan and Hussain” playing together (another ‘Sedin Twins’ story), with the powerful presence of GM Faiz Vaid at the point, grouped with the speed and hustle of Fahim Shaikh and Ml Abid Panchbhaya, and the rookie company of Shahrukh Shah and Ryan Hamchand. Also, Kaleem Mirza will be shielding the pipes, which had a great end to his season not a while back. All in all, this team boasts a lot of talent and has endless possibilities on the offense; the question is whether or not their defense will be able to put a stop to the Falcon flock.

Nordiques Vs Jets @ 10:45pm
With the results from last week, we know for sure that one of these two teams will begin the season with a 2-0 record, but the question is who will? The Jets, led by Ricky Saili showed a lot of heart in their season opener, rallying back with less than 2 minutes to go, winning by a single goal. On the other hand, you have the Nordiques, who seem to have an inter-team battle with their top 2 scorers, Yusuf Ingar and Jason Gogna, both trying to match each other’s numbers. However, whichever team you look at, offense is the primary key to success. It’ll be the defense of both teams that will most likely determine the winner of this one. It looks as though the Nordiques will have the advantage there, due to the presence of Sabir Shaikh and Shoaib Khan situated on the blue line. Another big question lies in net for the Nordiques. Will Yasir Hussain be able to withstand the offensive force of the Jets and perform at the level he did the first week? As for the Jets, in order to compete against this offensive power house, Goalie Deepinder Brar will also need to be on his game. They will need to penetrate deep and crash the net, as the Nordiques look to be an ‘offense first’ kind of team. Speedy forwards Ml.Huzaifa Patel, Fahad Panchbhaya and their GM will need to cause some sort of havoc if they want to come out as the high-flying team.
